Service Description

The WSET® Level 1 Award in Wines Online is a 4 week introductory wine course for wine novices, those encountering wine for the first time and those considering a career in hospitality or retail. The course delivers essential product knowledge and skills required in the service and retail of wine. All learning is online, completing a series of modules at the student's own pace. PLEASE NOTE THERE ARE NO FIXED ONLINE SESSIONS WITH AN EDUCATOR. Students can complete the modules in their own time. The one-hour session on May 27 indicated on the website is simply a place-holder that allows the course to be displayed on the website. The online educator for this course may be based outside of Australia but is available to answer student questions through the student portal & provide occasional live chat sessions at set times that correspond to Australian time zones. The course fee does not include wine. The exam can be completed online at a date and time of your choice. Please note we require three weeks advance notice to book your exam. Deadline for enrolments is Friday May 17th 2024 If you already have a basic understanding of wine then the WSET Level 2 Award is likely the best starting point for you. It is a requirement that the WSET specification document is read before you pay. What you will learn: The main types and styles of wine Common wine grapes and their characteristics How to make food and wine pairings How to store and serve wine How to describe wine using the WSET Level 1 Systematic Approach to Tasting Wine® (SAT) Social responsibility surrounding wine consumption There is a 45 minute, 30 multiple-choice question exam for this course scheduled for September 8 that can be taken either in person* or online Note: The WSET Level 1 Award in Wines is not a pre-requisite for studying the WSET Level 2 Award in Wines Course. Starting Date: May 27 2024 Finishes: June 23 2024 EXAM: Online at a date and time of your choice. Please note we require three weeks advance notice to book your online exam. Entry Requirements If you wish to taste wine during the course you must be over 18 years of age.

Cancellation Policy

Cancellations notified in writing more than 14 days before the program begins are eligible for a full refund. Cancellations notified within 14 days of the program will not receive a refund; however, a substitute may attend in your place. If a program is cancelled by Wine Intuition, you are entitled to a full refund. If you register and pay within 14 days of the course commencement date you will not be eligible for a refund.
