Service Description

Discover the world of spirits online with this five week online course. The course has been designed to provide introductory spirits knowledge and training to those employed or those wishing to pursue a career in the liquor industry. It is also ideally suited to anyone who has a serious interest and wants to deepen their knowledge of international spirits and obtain an internationally recognised qualification. No prior knowledge is required, although it is recommended that absolute beginners begin with Level 1. PLEASE NOTE - there are no fixed-time online lectures for this course. The session on July 8 is simply a placeholder allowing the course to be displayed on the website. Spirit samples are not included in the course fee This course is run through WSET Global & the educator for this course is based outside of Australia but will make themselves available to answer questions live during times convenient to Australian time zones. Students can also interact with the educator at any time through the online portal. Students will be provided a list of recommended spirits to purchase to assist with their tasting practice. Participation in a one-hour, multiple-choice WSET examination is required in the final session. It is a requirement that the WSET specification document is read before you pay. https://www.wsetglobal.com/media/11713/wset_l2spirits_specification_en_may2022_issue2.pdf What you will learn: How to taste and describe spirits using the WSET Level 2 Systematic Approach to Tasting Spirits ® (SAT) Techniques used during the four stages of spirits production: processing the raw material, alcoholic fermentation; distillation; and post-distillation operations How techniques used during the four stages of production determine the style of a spirit How aromatised wines are made How a balanced cocktail is made and examples in four notable cocktail families (the spirit-forward, the short sour, the highball and the long sour) How local production traditions, coupled with local laws, are used to create different styles of spirits in the following categories: fruit spirits whisky/whiskey sugar cane spirits Tequila and Mezcal vodka flavoured spirits (spiced rum, flavoured vodka, gin, aniseed spirits, bitters, liqueurs) Entry Requirements You must be 18 years of age or older to enrol Start Date: July 8 2024 End Date: August 11 2024 Exam Date: Online at a date and time of your choice. Please note we require three weeks advance notice to book your exam.

Cancellation Policy

Cancellations notified in writing more than 14 days before the program begins are eligible for a full refund. Cancellations notified within 14 days of the program will not receive a refund; however, a substitute may attend in your place. If a program is cancelled by Wine Intuition, you are entitled to a full refund. If you register and pay within 14 days of the course commencement date you will not be eligible for a refund.
